Autocare
Not just repair. Not just maintenance. Not just restorations.
At Rossmoor Chevron Autocare, We do it ALL!
Our philosophy is simple. We prioritize care for your car based on five things: Safety, Reliability, Drivability, Economy, and Appearance
Safety
This is our number one priority. Anything that could affect your safety as you drive your vehicle. Brakes, tires, headlights, etc. That is why even the most basic oil change service includes a safety inspection of your vehicles tires and brakes.
Reliability
Contrary to popular belief, modern cars do break down and do require repair. Take a look at the new multimillion-dollar car dealerships--those are being paid for largely by the service and parts departments of their respective brands.
It is true that today's cars are significantly more reliable than cars made more than 10 years ago. Gone are the days of changing spark plugs, cleaning or rebuilding carburetors, and changing plug wires over and over. Today's computerized ignition and fuel systems run more efficient, use less fuel, make more power, and run cleaner. However, they are not without their own problems. There is a new high-tech generation of things that routinely fail, like plastic radiators, failed sensors, plastic intake manifolds, broken timing belts, etc. Many of these items give little warning before they fail, and the home garage mechanic no longer has the expensive equipment or in-depth training required to diagnose what's wrong.
Maintaining v. Repairing
In many cases, doing the factory recommended maintenance schedule is the difference between care-free driving and coming in on a tow truck for a repair. At Rossmoor Chevron Autocare, even the most basic routine maintenance includes an inspection of your vehicles engine, cooling system, tires, and brakes. In many cases, we'll catch an imminent problem and have the opportunity take care of it for you right there before it becomes an issue. We are procative about anything that could leave you stranded. For example, we have invested in advanced battery testing equipment that can determine how much life your battery has left so it can be replaced before it fails, saving you the time and inconvenience of a breakdown and a ride in a tow truck. Changing coolant can increase the life of your cooling system and your engine by removing corrosive chemicals which act to increase the break down of today's plastic radiators and fittings. Changing brake fuid removes contaminants which can break down the rubber pressure hoses prematurely. Changing transmission fluid routinely may extend the life of your transmission which can be adversely affected by fluid that is worn out by contaminants and extensive periods of heat.
Drivability
Some things that go wrong on your car will not affect its reliability, but they will affect how your car drives, its safety, or its fuel economy. A perfect example is wheel alignment. Over time, bumping the curb and potholes on the road knock your front end suspension parts out of alignment. It may happen gradually so you've learned not to notice the steering wheel pulling to one side, but it makes the vehicle more difficult to drive and significantly reduces the life of your tires. Another example is when your brake pedal pulses up and down because your brakes have been overheated due to hard braking--the brakes are not worn out, but the car is more difficult to stop than it should be
Economy
Certain things on your vehicle can affect how much it costs to drive and own your car. Low tire pressure makes tires wear out faster so you have to replace them sooner. It also lower's gas mileage by increasing the vehicles drag on the road. A poorly maintained engine burns more gas and may even cause significant damage to your car's catalytic converter and other pollution control systems.
Appearance
Nobody likes driving a car that looks bad. But over time, little things on a vehicle break that do not rise to the level where its worth taking the car in. Window doesn't go down all the way. Glove box door doesn't shut. Chips in the windshield. Radio doesn't hold the stations anymore. Tear in the seat. Door dings. Little fender bender on the front bumper. Over time, these "little things" accumulate and you're saying to yourself "I need a new car!." We can handle all of that here at Rossmoor Chevron Autocare, and save you from prematurely giving up on your car.
